Lost and Found
A dialog between a human and a city
And every morning,
You rush,
Through the city you call home,
Like a hamster,
In a golden wheel.
You're building a life,
A career worthwhile,
To secure and maintain,
A future of your own.
But somehow,
You feel something is off,
Then a thought creeps in,
Maybe you’re building a dream,
Not of your own,
But one,
They sold to you,
Since the day you were born.
It’s easy to get lost,
In such a crowded place.
It’s easy to get distracted,
When nobody dares,
To pause for a while,
Step outside daily life,
And ask oneself:
What’s worthwhile?
I feel lonely,
Even though I’m surrounded,
By many other me’s.
We talk and laugh,
Complain without gain,
Swim in our pettiness,
Because we feel powerless.
Why is it,
That I feel so distant,
Even though,
I’m surrounded by many other me’s?
For many, many years,
This question haunted me.
And then,
On a random morning,
Instead of rushing,
I asked the city I call home:
Will I lose myself in you?
Or will you help me,
To awaken to my deepest core?
I didn’t get an answer right away,
So I turned into a silent dancer.
Amidst this stillness,
The city I call home shared its secrets:
Human hearts yearn for connection,
True and deep-felt ones.
But you walk around with masks,
Hiding the worries,
You carry deep inside.
A big city like me,
Is the perfect place to hide,
To lose oneself,
To drift off,
To miserable shores.
But I’m a blessing too.
I can be a gift,
A chance to awaken,
To truly feel connected,
To the people around you,
And to your deepest core.
So don’t be afraid, little one.
Open up your heart,
And become who you’re truly meant to be,
So you may live fully.
